Yeah, it was a little extra but I splurged for the GDLS M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank because I deserve it. Besides, you never know when you might need it!
I fucking love this meme. It places more fault on the salesman than the buyer, which is an important aspect to why we’re in this situation. The illusion of choice while manufacturers, and therefore dealers, try and get us all to buy the same thing.
Yeah, we’re saving up for an EV and I’m hoping that will be our forever car. I have no interest in continuing to use fossil fuels to get around. My area. Also is investing in transit finally so maybe in 10 years we can go down to just being a one car household?
People vastly over estimate the danger of riding a bike. It’s comparable in lethality to getting on a highway in your car, slightly less lethal in most places, but slightly more dangerous for non lethal injuries, iirc.
I was real excited to see my deeply conservative city add bike lanes recently, but people just ignore them. They even tried adding little reflector barriers, but people kept running them over.
I sold my car and have been rocking an escooter recently!
Hopefully I don’t drive the faster bikes too crazy when I use the bike lane. But the sidewalks are too bumpy and often times have super over grown trees so feel like I’m gonna die with tree branch into eye.
Although the price varies based on individual customer specifications, each 797 costs approximately US$5,000,000.Other prices have been listed at US$3,400,000.
Never seen a dirty dodge ram ever, and only ever saw one towing anything remotely big. And they’re constantly parking illegally or getting in the way because parking here isn’t designed for them.
Here in Australia, they should be recategorized as heavy vehicles and require a truck license.
And the drivers spend their time trolling on the Internet talking nonsense about EVs generally too
I think it’s more because of the margin, say manuf a car for 30k and sell it 32k, compared to manuf a truck for 40k and sell it 60k+…
I live in a suburbia and there is a couple of lifted F250 trucks that are only used to go to Costco, which haven’t tow anything (no hitch anyway), and never saw a grain of dust anyway.
Google and Meta might not be dangerous for USA, sure. But you know there are other countries in the world, right? Remember when Snowden presented proof that big tech companies were being used to spy federal governments in South America? Maybe you don’t care about that, but people who live outside of USA sure do.
If you’re an American citizen you should never willingly compromise yourself to a foreign entity, let alone an adversary.
While my own Government and its Corporations do spy on me, I know that I’m not in danger of losing my life or livelihood because I’m not a threat to either of them, and there’s basic rule of law to protect me.
With the CCP, if I as an American have any value to them that can be used to destabilize my own Country or to increase China’s hegemony they could use me to their own purposes and I and my country could very much be in danger.
I hope any kid or teen who uses Tiktok doesn’t desire power or politics one day, because there’s a significant chance those very personal things you recorded could potentially be used against you to the benefit of the CCP in the future.
Sure, that all kinda makes sense if only care about USA. Snowden presented proof that Meta and Google were being used to spy governments in South America(if don’t believe me, just Google it) . What are your thoughts about that?
So I own a 350, I do need it for work though lol, I haul things on an almost daily basis. Anyways, these trucks are usually governed at 96mph. It’s diesel so I get pretty good mileage on the highway, 400+ mi per tank. I do have to fill up about once a week though. Driving cross country, AZ-AL, I only had to fill up 4x.
For an average commuter car maybe. Trucks like this are built for towing and have a shit-ton of torque. Which is really good for fast acceleration, not so much for top speed though.

OH NO CHINA MIGHT GET YOUR CAR DATA?!
Just gonna keep on posting this
Thankfully I just drive without children in front of me.
Yeah, it was a little extra but I splurged for the GDLS M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank because I deserve it. Besides, you never know when you might need it!
This explains that whole Tiananmen mixup. Those tanks couldn’t even see those people.
you mean the people that were cheering on the glorious tanks during the Tiananmen square parade
I fucking love this meme. It places more fault on the salesman than the buyer, which is an important aspect to why we’re in this situation. The illusion of choice while manufacturers, and therefore dealers, try and get us all to buy the same thing.
But also, that dealer has a gun to his head, of needing to eat, I’m sure they don’t have a choice but to offer this spiel. Why do they even make them.
My Saturn is starting to look more and more like my forever car everyday. I think I’ll try to save up to turn it into an EV
I have an aunt with a 2005ish Saturn Vue who refuses to replace it. At this point it’s the Vue of Theseus.

Sounds like a hell of a project. Good luck.

Some companies like GM collects and gives/sales your genetic information and sexual life, to 3rd parties.
If I hadn’t seen the source, I would have thought you were crazy

I’ve been riding an ebike to work since June, its so much better than driving a car.
Except you would die trying that where I live. But cool it’s good for you!
People vastly over estimate the danger of riding a bike. It’s comparable in lethality to getting on a highway in your car, slightly less lethal in most places, but slightly more dangerous for non lethal injuries, iirc.

Lights + a reflective/fluorescent/hi-vis vest go a long way, plus paying close attention in risky spots like where drivers turn
The sad truth is it’s not a real bikelane unless it’s protected by a barrier.
Like a curb. The ideal bike lane is in-between street parking and the sidewalk.
I sold my car and have been rocking an escooter recently!
Hopefully I don’t drive the faster bikes too crazy when I use the bike lane. But the sidewalks are too bumpy and often times have super over grown trees so feel like I’m gonna die with tree branch into eye.
But in a head on collision, the biggest vehicle is the safer vehicle. Therefore, you should drive Cat 797 to work for maximum safety.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagger_288
I like to be high up.
That’s also called the Ford F150 Shelby Raptor Baja CAT Edition
Bagger 288!
I drive a VPN to work.
0 to 0 in eleven seconds. 😎
Funny, I use a Cat 797 for Internet security
Awhhhh I’m still only on CAT-6
I use Wifi 1337 to connect my smart fork
Toot TOOOOT!
Beelzebub himself will fear the Bagger 288!
The Bagger 288 is seriously impressive. It can scoop up and eat those Caterpillar 797s for breakfast, second breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Perfectly for bringing a child safe to school.
The specs are amazing!
If I could buy one, I wouldn’t be commuting.
buy and maintain, it probably costs over $1M/yr in fuel and spare parts
But still, imagine how many things you could buy in bulk and bring home from Costco!
The load capacity:
I think one may be able to bring home a Costco.
I’d love to get one, just can’t afford it right now. So I carpool instead.
DOWNVOTE
Literally figuratively or literally literally?
You can’t take it to literally. Literally it’s just a weird
I assume your gripe is with the word literally, in which case it is literally being used properly
So sick of these big Utes here in Australia.
Never seen a dirty dodge ram ever, and only ever saw one towing anything remotely big. And they’re constantly parking illegally or getting in the way because parking here isn’t designed for them.
Here in Australia, they should be recategorized as heavy vehicles and require a truck license.
And the drivers spend their time trolling on the Internet talking nonsense about EVs generally too
It’s also the cheapest vehicle they sell due to an emission standards loophole.
Well, there is no more cars at some dealers, only SUV and trucks
Why sell a car that’s more expensive to manufacture?
I think it’s more because of the margin, say manuf a car for 30k and sell it 32k, compared to manuf a truck for 40k and sell it 60k+…
I live in a suburbia and there is a couple of lifted F250 trucks that are only used to go to Costco, which haven’t tow anything (no hitch anyway), and never saw a grain of dust anyway.
:-(
You guys know that Google and Meta do the same shit, right? OK, good. Just checking.
Can’t haul stuff in Google or Meta.
Can’t argue about that
They sell trucks? Never knew that.
I also don’t want a META or google car…
That’s how we #bothsides this issue.
What do you mean? Honest question.

Yes both should be regulated.
That said, Google and Meta don’t have any desire to geopolitically cripple the US so there is a difference between the two depending on your region.
Google and Meta might not be dangerous for USA, sure. But you know there are other countries in the world, right? Remember when Snowden presented proof that big tech companies were being used to spy federal governments in South America? Maybe you don’t care about that, but people who live outside of USA sure do.
The CCP is and has always been worse. This hasn’t ever been a feasible debate, just whataboutism.
How is it worse? Real question. I’m not American, by the way.
If you’re an American citizen you should never willingly compromise yourself to a foreign entity, let alone an adversary.

That’s over an encrypted line :D
Cmon dude, the line is literally the joke.
Fuckcars@lemmy.world
Correct link
doesn’t work for me in boost ):
Just fyi, you can link to a community like this: /c/fuck_cars@lemmy.ml
Couldn’t find a convenient way to do this, thanks!
Doesn’t work for me. I think the proper format is !fuck_cars@lemmy.ml
Edit: Your link works in browser, but not in Eternity.
Am in browser and their link is not hyperlinked at all but yours is.
5 seconds is pretty slow.
That depends on your speed limit. Over here, breaking the highway speed limit in just five seconds is basically impossible.
Yeah impossible with that attitude.
5 seconds to 88miles per hour is not bad.
It’s pretty good for a gas car, but pretty slow for an EV. I don’t know about pickup trucks though, they’re probably on the longer end of gas.
So I own a 350, I do need it for work though lol, I haul things on an almost daily basis. Anyways, these trucks are usually governed at 96mph. 5.21 jiggawatts
I, too, am five seconds away from some serious shit
